See this gauntlet? Well I just threw it down.
First off, let me salute my friends back home as they ship themselves out to compete in the Brazil Ironman this weekend. I’m with them in spirit, cheering on the sidelines and blowing bubbles (with a little help from a friend who is no doubt with them in spirit as well). I’m proud of them all. Hoorah!
Back here in London, as mentioned before I’m getting back into the tri world myself. And to keep myself motivated for the year, I’ve just signed up for two races:
Great North Swim: a 1-mile swim in Lake Windemore, it’s the first of its kind and attempting to be the largest lake swim in Europe. And now the event is one more strong.
London Duathlon: The ‘Challenge’ distance is a 10km run, 20km bike, 5km run, held right here in my back hard.
The catch is that they’re back-to-back: the swim is on Saturday the 13th of September, and the duathlon is Sunday the 14th. The cumulative distance is between an Olympic and Half (though the bike is much less), and I think it’ll make for a fantastic weekend.
Now the trick is to get all of my friends here to participate as well. Let the harrassing begin.
