Following my last post and Tish’s short but sweet “why?” reply, I read a bit more about going “fixed”, and found this superb article.
Of impressive interest is that the Tour de France began as a fixed-gear race: 1903’s first Tour was won by Maurice Garin on a fixed-gear bicycle, and he averaged 16mph over the three week and 1,5000 mile race. !!!
